Historical museums

It was declared a national monument on 11 January 1940.

The apartment used as a typological museum [2] is located on the second floor of a building in the historic center of Catania, where Verga spent his childhood and later lived for many years with his family. With the death of its last heir, Giovannino Verga Patriarca, the building was sold to the region on February 23, 1980, who restored it and transformed it into a literary museum.

The interiors are still the original ones. The complete library of the writer, located in the room that was the private study, consists of about 2600 volumes positioned on six walnut wood bookcases. Copies of Verga's manuscripts are also distributed in the windows, the authentications are kept in the library of the University of Catania.
