The Cinema Museum of Catania is located in the chimney fair complex, a short distance from the central station. The 900 square meters of its surface narrate the relationship & nbsp; over a century interwoven between the seventh art and Sicily. In the early 1900s Catania was the seat of film production houses. In memory of this period, which sanctioned a special relationship between territory and creativity, the architect François Confino, the same who set up the cinema museum in the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, created the Catania cinema museum. In an engaging and original way, the museum displays a selection of materials along a cognitive path that allows you to travel among the images, icons, dream machines that embody cinema. This passionate story is told through a historical itinerary that unravels from the pioneering era of cinema, from the discoveries that are a prelude to the first film screening, and then moves on to the first & nbsp; "machines" for projection. In the "portrait gallery", the protagonists of Italian cinema remember the films shot in Sicily and consider how the island has influenced their way of shooting. Through photographic materials, the museum also addresses the relationship between cinema and Sicilian literature. In the Paradiso room, a montage of some of the most iconic film clips of all time makes a tribute to the art of cinema. We then arrive at the "house of the cinema": a real apartment where the furnishings integrate projection screens that project clips of cult films.
