Architect's Day

The light and shadows of a city that is reflected in the hues of the sun and the sea, darkened in the narrow streets and ancient cobblestones of the center, sheltered under the profile of its Volcano. It will be precisely light ? in its different meanings, in its multiple declinations ? the common denominator of the moments that will mark the Architect's Day 2022, organized by the Order, the Foundation of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Catania (presidents Sebastian Carlo Greco and Eleonora Bonanno, respectively) and CoGA (young architects Catania), under the patronage of the Etnean City Council and the Department of Culture.

The chosen location is Piazza Dante, a place where ? starting at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 24 ? the doors of the church of San Nicolò l'Arena will be opened. It is within it, identified as a place of knowledge, that the Technical Scientific Committee of the Etna category will be officially presented: a mix of experts from various fields, each with knowledge in cross-cutting areas ? ?just as the facets of light are ? ? with the task of supporting the Foundation's cultural activities.

This will be followed by a performance by pianist Giovanni Giuseppe Pappalardo and dancer Giuliana Randazzo, who will take the stage with her ?Dance of Fire?, to celebrate the Summer Solstice and send a message to the city loud and clear: ?We are squeezed into already established paths and customary visions. We have a need to intersect, to mix, to turn upside down ?

The event ? established to commemorate the founding of the Professional Order of Architects on June 24, 1923? aims to celebrate architecture and its protagonists as central elements of a process capable of enhancing the quality of the project in its highest civil and cultural dimension.

It is a moment to turn the spotlight on the importance of design and, even more, on the ?lights and shadows? of the city of Etna, with its desire to be reborn, once again.
