Constructed between 1995 and 1998, the Piazza stands next to the Castle on Via Leucatia, at the site that Federico De Roberto calls "Belvede" in the novel from which the Piazza itself takes its name.

For its structure, architect Ivan Castrogiovanni was inspired by the lost 17th-century Benedictine aqueduct. The Piazza and Park together occupy an area of more than ten thousand square meters. The materials used are lava stone of different colors (from black to red) and milky travertine from Trani.

The Piazza consists of a bare space with slightly concave paving; in the remaining space is located a garden is articulated in with "lost steps" paths in which it is possible to find different essences such as pinaster pine, cypress, linden, oak, and jacaranda.Along the perimeter of the complex stand three portals made of lava stone, carved with leaf motifs and volutes that recall the facades of the churches in Via dei Crociferi and the 18th-century architecture of the province of Etna.
