A selection of more than 80 photographs printed in different formats that spans the entire career of the great Sicilian photographer and develops along an articulated narrative path, built on different chapters and various modes of black-and-white staging to highlight the close bond that unites him to his homeland. Ti ricordo, Sicilia, is a real journey that allows the visitor, through subjects, images, places, rituals, festivities and customs, to get to know and explore the land so dear to the photographer.
The exhibition itinerary begins with a tribute to his hometown, Bagheria, ready to celebrate its famous fellow citizen on the occasion of his first 80 years that will fall on July 4, then shots dedicated to Marpessa, the very young Dutch model photographed in the late 1980s for the then emerging Dolce & Gabbana becoming one of the artist's muses.
Always one of the best known names on the national and international scene, Ferdinando Scianna is among the great masters of photography, not only Italian. The first Italian photographer to join the prestigious Magnum agency since the early 1980s, he had numerous ties with personalities from the world of art and culture that marked his career, among them Leonardo Sciascia.
The exhibition has a layout and selection of images specially designed for the Castello Ursino venue, with video and graphic contributions, to celebrate the relationship between the territory and the great Sicilian photographer.
