Year-end events - Curtigghiu

From Dec. 28 to 30, the heart of Etna's Baroque will host the new edition of the ?Curtigghiu? Festival, promoted this year by the City of Catania and the support of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, with the organization of Puntoeacapo and MCN, which will drag thousands of spectators into the square, with free admission, after the two difficult years dictated by Covid restrictions.
Many guests will take turns on stage, a rich bill of artists paying homage to Sicilianity, a choice shared by Lello Analfino's artistic direction, with the exception of Campania's The Kolors, winners in 2015 of the fourteenth edition of Maria De Filippi's ?Amici? talent show.
A countdown, in anticipation of the 2022 New Year's Eve celebrations, which begins on Wednesday, December 28, with a performance by Lello Analfino himself, an unconventional singer-songwriter with a large following in Sicily and Italy. This will be followed by Catanese Hip Hopper Luca Trischitta, aka the Elf born and raised in Catania, the city that inspired his freestyle music.
On Dec. 29, Curtigghiu Festival will open the second musical evening with the return of Sicilian multi-instrumentalist Mario Venuti, a singer-songwriter from Etna who has been riding the Italian music scene for more than 30 years, appreciated by old and new generations.
There will also be dancing to the rhythms of the band Babil on Suite a meeting of musicians, DJs and music producers
An ensemble of artists with ethnic sounds, able to open the doors of imagination in an exploit of musical joy. Young soloist Brando Madonia, son of art, will also plough the stage set up in Piazza Duomo.
The baroque setting of Piazza Duomo, will host on the third night of the festival, Friday, Dec. 30, The Kolors, led by their frontman Stash. Their bold and at times pop-british style will engage the many fans and not only the younger ones.
They will close the evening in grand finale the Catanian singer Roberta Finocchiaro, promise of international music, and the quartet Collective, a new emerging band that has already created 20 exciting new songs: before the grand finale on New Year's Eve with the highly anticipated performance of Giusy Ferreri.
