Days of St. Agatha 2023

Sunday, Feb. 5 ? solemnity of St. Agatha
8 a.m.: Holy Mass in the Church of St. Agatha at the Abbey.
10 a.m.: Authorities with the Banners of the City, Province and University from the Palazzo degli Elefanti will travel to the Cathedral.
10:15 a.m.: His Excellency Archbishop, Archbishops and Bishops of Sicily, Canons, Clergy and Seminary will move in liturgical procession from the Archbishop's Palace to the Cathedral Basilica for the Solemn Pontifical. The liturgical service will be taken care of by the students of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Catania and Nicosia, the singing animation by the Musical Chapel of the Cathedral, conducted by M° Msgr. Giuseppe Maieli, organist M° Piero Figura.
4 p.m.: Holy Mass presided over by H.E.R. Msgr. Giuseppe Baturi, archbishop of metropolitan Cagliari and secretary general of the Italian Bishops' Conference. 5:00 p.m.: Procession of the Sacred Relics down Via Etnea; in front of the Basilica Collegiata floral tribute by the Chapter of Canons and members of the Circolo Cittadino S. Agata; the procession continues down Via Caronda, Piazza Cavour; in said piazza floral tribute by the Associazione Sant' Agata al Borgo and reflections by the Rev. Sac. Enzo Fatuzzo, parish priest in Sant' Agata al Borgo. Then on to Via Etnea, Sangiuliano, Crociferi; in front of the Church of St. Benedict floral tribute by the Benedictine Nuns of Perpetual Adoration, reflections by Chaplain Msgr. Antonino La Manna, episcopal vicar for culture; on to Piazza S. Francesco d'Assisi, Via della Lettera, Garibaldi, Piazza Duomo.
On return to the Cathedral, celebration of blessing and thanksgiving.
