Sharing Sicily proposes night walk through the mysteries and legends of Catania. We will start from the little church of San Gaetano alle Grotte: we will descend down to the underground altar. The proposed walk will be a real guided tour among stories, legends and secrets of the less known Catania.
The tour will begin in front of the Church of San Gaetano alle Grotte, which we will have the opportunity to visit: going down the steps, the sounds of the outside world slowly disappear and will leave room for the silence and amazement of a place you don't expect, even more impressive at night. It will continue with the portal of the Church of Sant'Agata al Carcere and its symbolism. Villa Cerami, Via Crociferi, the headless horse and its intriguing secrets. Bellini's Statue. University Square and the legends of the candelabra.
We will move toward Piazza Duomo. The ? Liotru?, a stone elephant that is mystery and magic together, where the line between history and legends are intertwined. Catania is a city always risen from its ashes, more beautiful, more splendid, always in the same place, like the mythical phoenix, symbol of immortality, that stands out and towers in the Ferdinandeo triumphal arch on the side that looks at the Cathedral of St. Agatha. Legends, curiosities and lesser-known historical aspects will be the main keys to the tour. The rest will be revealed to you during the night walk.
